Real Madrid fans could have been pardoned for the rain of tears that dripped from their eyelids 5 minutes to the end of the UEFA Champions League final as they were made to wait in anxious desperation as their team.looked for every possible means of poking the ball into the net. Atletico fans were seen rejoicing and hoisting a dummy trophy with few minutes to go.

The 93rd minute header from Ramos pushed the game into extra time. Atletico grew weaker by the minute as the strain of having a little squad depth showed as well as the lack of a proficient striker. When Bale headed in Real’s second, the game was already summarised as the goals begun to pour in.

Ronaldo netted his 17th of this season’s UCL therby overtaking Messi’s total UCL goals and making him the 2nd highest goal scorer in UCL history with 68 goals; 3 shy of Raul’s haul.

Real are no doubt worthy champions as their wait for the La Decima was ended. This year’s Champions League ended in grand style. The final was a summary of what we saw throughout the competition. We were made to witness purely tactical football as both coaches were made to tweak a lot of things during the match. Wonderful piece of footballing.

Atletico should be commended for punching above their weight. Even with their little resources they were still able it to make to the finals and even carried the match into extra time. I cut my cap for Diego Simeone. Brillant Chap.

All in all, the elusive La Decima is gotten. Hala Madrid.
