La Casa Brewery & Kitchen

By Rohit Dassani

La Casa Brewery is a legendary restaurant with more than 15 years of history. The outlet is located in Hosa Road close to Sajrapur Road. Even though the place might look small from the front it is simply huge from inside. Spread over three floors with a separate play area for kids, this place is for all. We decided to sit on the 1st floor right below the microbrewery setup. Here you can sit right in the laps of nature as the whole place is surrounded with greenery and their even space for live events on the top floor.

As the name suggests La Casa brews its own beer. We even tried their craft beer sampler which consisted of Citra Wheat, American IPA, German Hefeweizen and Smoked Lager. While the Hefeweizen stood out among all, the rest were nothing less than fantastic. The Citra Wheat is made with wheat and citrus fruits, while the Smoked Lager had a very strong smoky aftertaste. Choose your favorite and enjoy the La Casa experience. We even had the Classic Mojito as well as Casa Especial Martini. Both the drinks were super refreshing. The Martini was made with dry vermouth and pineapple juice with Hefeweizen form on top.

When it comes to food there is ample choice at La Casa from around the world. Just revert the menu and choose which countries cuisine you want to try today. We ordered the Tandoori Stuffed Mushrooms with the newly introduced Potato Skins. The Mushrooms were not super spicy but just right. The Potato Skin was mild in flavors as well. We even ordered the Americano Pizza which is loaded with potato fries, tomatoes and capsicum. The pizza was delicious and damn heavy on the stomach.

We even tried couple of other dishes like the Golden Coins, which is a deep fried fritter of bread with potato in the middle and topped with sesame seeds. The dish was so-so and a bit oily for me. The Hot Pepper Babycorn was spicy but the babycorn was soggy. Loved their Mushroom Risotto which is made in white sauce and loads of cheese along with diced mushrooms and other veggies. The Alfredo had a similar sauce were tossed in cream, parmesan cheese with mushroom and ground pepper.

For desserts we had the Blueberry Cheese Cake and the Chocolate Mousse. The Blueberry Cheese Cake was good if not great but was frozen from inside. The Chocolate Mousse was creamy and not too sweet, just perfect.

Overall, La Casa has loads of good beer, cocktails and food. Some of the dish needs more attention while preparing.
