By Dressmeupbuttercup @hazelsalcedo

Have you ever experienced buying a foundation only to find out the shades available are limited to only 3, usually light, medium, and dark, and just settling for whatever shade is closest to your skin tone? Well, now worry no more as L’Oreal unveils the 15-shade arsenal of True Match Foundation made available to Filipinas.

In an intimate art cum launch event held at NOVA Gallery Manila, L’Oreal showcased the newest shades of True Match super-blendable foundation. I’ll go more into details about it later in this post.

Before the program started, we were encouraged to have our portrait sketched by the artists they hired. In the photo above you can see blogger Tricia Gosingtian posing seriously for the artist. Haha, hi Tricia! :)

During the program, models wearing their respective True Match foundation shade went on stage. And then the big reveal happened — murals mounted on the wall were unveiled. These were all painted with the actual True Match foundation to accurately capture the models’ skin tone. Lovely work of art! Props to the artists!

After the program they told us to have our skin tone matched with their foundation with the help of L’Oreal makeup stylists Verna Marin and Gex Garcia.

It can be overwhelming seeing all 15 shades, but after swatching on my jawline, I was told that my perfect match is W6. Wanna know a little trivia? I learned that this is the shade JLo uses. Wow, I’m the same shade as hers! We tried 2 or 3 shades and I like how the foundation shade W6 that the makeup artist applied on me felt like second skin instantly! Gone are the days your whole face is in different shade with the rest of your body.

Here are some pointers I picked up from the event about choosing the right foundation for you:

  1. Determine your skin tone. It’s the natural color of your complexion that falls into a range from fair to deep.
  2. Find your undertone. Are your underveins mostly green and you look good in gold jewelry? Then your undertone is warm. If your underveins are mostly blue and silver jewelry suits you better, then you have cool undertone. If you have bluish-green underveins, your undertone is neutral.
  3. The perfect combination. What makes True Match unique is that both skin tone and undertone are considered so finding the right shade for you is now attainable!

Backed up by its strong Parisian heritage, True Match has been innovated with Precise Match Technology to precisely calibrate one’s color, and micro-fine optical pearls diffuse skin’s imperfections, while Glycerin, Vitamin B, and Vitamin E nourish one’s skin.

I’ll post a review on the foundation once I get the correct W6 one. There was a slight confusion when I received my PR box cos they didn’t switch W4.5 to W6. Anyway, I appreciated that they truly personalized the press kit! It even has a cellphone holder with my initial HS embroidered on it!

The True Match Super-blendable Foundation is available for Php899.00 starting May 1, 2014 in L’Oreal counters at Watsons and SM stores nationwide. Mark your calendar ladies and make sure to have your right foundation shade determined once it’s available here!
