Story: Krispr starts when Dr Elijah Roelof (Willink) brings his latest project Krispr (Puchley) home for Christmas. She is the clone designed to learn and help around the home, with a lifelike appearance. Elijah’s wife Chloe (Felkner) agrees to support his work and welcome her into the home.
However, once the three arrive at Elijah’s family home, things start to take a turn. Krispr’s ability to learn sees her learn about a lot of the world’s darkest moments. Along with a religious clash with Elijah’s brother, leading to dire consequences.
Verdict on Krispr
Krispr is a sci-fi horror following a brilliant scientist who brings home his latest clone to celebrate Christmas with his family. However, the sudden learning curve she goes through leads to her learning a lot of dangerous subject matters. One she doesn’t understand how to process, leading to side effects nobody was expecting.
This is a sci-fi movie that shows the dangers of clones being brought into an everyday home. We have seen M3GAN recently do the same type of concept, where the increased education leads to dangerous side effects. This brings us to that formula in a more Christmas family horror side of things. However, this uses more of the Frankenstein education model, as the creator becomes the failure in the creation process. With a strong moral discussion, we get a story that could go in almost any direction. The strong performances help show the family dynamic and question both religions and science in the same world.
Final Thoughts – Krispr is a smart and slick story on the dangers of clone technology.
