There are so many festivals celebrated in India. India is a country of festivals where almost all festivals are celebrated with great love and peace. People greet each other on these days and share love and blessings. The festivals are made to free up the person from the busy life and for fun.
Diwali is great festival of Hindus it is celebrate with great love in all over the country. it is the festival of light. People say that we celebrate Diwali because on that day god ram return from lanka and the people of ayodhya welcomed him by lightning small lamps so as honor to lord Ram and also to conquer darkness we celebrate this festival. Diwali is the symbol of the victory of the forces of good over evil. Jains says this is the day when Lord Mahavira attained "moksha or salvation". They show lights in jubilation of thus attainment. It is a festival of lights and firework. It comes after Durga Puja as the winter sets in. In West Bengal and some other places in North India Goddess Kali is worshiped during the Diwali.
As the lights keep away the darkness, Goddess Kali drives away the evil forces in our world. Diwali is a five day long festival. It starts with Dhanteras which is taken as an auspicious day to buy silver and gold. Now here comes the auspicious day of Diwali when people worship Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswati in their own ways. Generally, pooja is in the evening but Jains worship before four o'clock in the evening. Bengalis preach Durga Maa. Decorate their homes with candles, diyas and lights. Rangoli is another beautiful art which people make outside their homes. After the pooja, everybody get together and enjoy the festival by bursting crackers and distributing sweets among each other.
Festivals are meant to share, meet and enjoy. Thus, people purchase gifts for their near and dear ones, kith and kin and relatives. Fourth day is celebrated for the worship of Lord Govardhan (the one who gives us food); and on this day he is offered 56 different varieties of delicious food items termed as Chappan Bhog. The last day in the series is Bhaiya Dooj, to strengthen the relation which a brother and a sister share.
