The Dutch carrier, KLM, is offering a five-day special for selected European cities, including Amsterdam, Moscow and Istanbul, starting from $ 899 including taxes from Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. The offer ends Oct. 27, 2013.
- You can fly between now and Dec. 10, 2013, and then between Dec. 25, 2013 and May 6, 2014.
- You have to stay a Sunday night, and the travel has to be completed within three months.
- The KLM Canada website also says a free stopover in Amsterdam is offered.
- Ticket is not refundable.
I tried the following:
A direct Montreal-Istanbul flight
Departure – Oct 31
Return – Nov. 14
The lowest price was $ 1,079, with an 11-hour layover in Paris on my way to Istanbul.
The shortest flight would have cost me $ 1,447.43.
Same flight but with a five day stop-over in Amsterdam, with same departure and arrival dates.
The best price was $ 1,781.20.
