Quick and easy-to-make, this kiwi, ginger and matcha smoothie will give your body and your mind an instant boost.

Today’s recipe is just a quick one but it makes for the perfect winter pick-me-up. Kiwis are one of the top sources of vitamin C which is just what our bodies need at this time of year as it supports our immune systems. Whilst it can’t necessarily cure a cold, vitamin C can prevent the worst of it. Ginger is also an ideal winter ingredient as it warms you up from the inside – another way of keeping a cold at bay. The matcha, as I’ve mentioned before, has a whole host of health benefits to really round-off this smoothie.

I made this smoothie with whole bean soy milk; the flavor from the milk was quite strong so you could make this with a milder plant-based milk to let the fruit flavor come through more.
Ingredients per person:
2 kiwis, peeled and roughly chopped (depending on your blender’s power/ripeness of the fruit you may want to remove the firm core too)
1in piece of fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
1/2tsp – 1tsp matcha powder (depending on preferred strength), mixed into a paste with a tiny amount of cold water
150ml plant milk
Method: Add together in the blender and whizz until smooth!

What is your ideal winter pick-me-up?
