The evening we uncorked the 2018 Terlato Pinot Grigio was to pay tribute to Anthony Terlato who had just recently passed away. A native New Yorker, Anthony founded Terlato Wine Group. His vision was to increase the importance of wine to the American culture. Terlato Wine Group owns wineries in California, Washington, Italy and Australia. They also represent over 100 wine, spirit and water brands. We toasted to him with the 2018 Terlato Pinot Grigio from the Fruili Colli Orientali region of italy. The wine had nice acidity with lemon curd, Asian pear and some stone fruit. Chef made Pan Roasted Line Caught North Carolina Sea Trout & Georges Bank Scallops and Clams with jasmine rice, poached leek and carrots in a tarragon miso fumet to pair with the wine. Other pairing suggestions from Chef Gus are: Seafood Risotto, Orange Saffron Bouillabaisse, Sashimi, Clams Casino and Oysters Rockefeller. If you have a sweet tooth, pair this wine with white custards like rice pudding or flan.
