Cremant is sparkling wine made in France outside of the Champagne region. This Cremant comes from the Savoie region of France.
The Savoie region of France is in the eastern mountainous part of France just south of Lake Geneva on the border with Switzerland. Little fact on the white cross with red background you see on the bottle. It is the flag of Switzerland as well as Savoie.
Domaine de I’Idylle is the producer of this NV Cremant is a blend of Pinot Noir, Jacquere and Roussette. Boy does it make good sparkling wine. Petille Idylle means “little romance” and I can see where this bottle of bubbles will bring lots of romance to the table. Beautiful finesse of fine bubbles shooting to the top. It’s a very lively wine with a hint of breadiness, white flowers, lemon rind and pear. Best it’s under $20.
Chef’s Pairing Suggestions: Oysters, caviar, cold fish salad, cold poached seafood and mussels.
