Knox Henderson has always been home to funky shops and eclectic eateries. I recently discovered a great new addition to the neighborhood called Kit and Ace. Using the success of their workout wear brand as a model, Shannon Wilson and JJ Wilson (the wife and son of Lululemon founder, Chip) launched Kit and Ace in 2015, a brand devoted to user-friendly luxury wear. The brand was designed to fill a void in the apparel industry. They wanted clothing that performed like technical apparel but offered the designs and versatility of street and fashion brands. They brought their background in technical apparel to create clothing that offers comfort and function without sacrificing style. The family of proprietary fabrics, Qemir™, combines noble fibers like cashmere and silk with technical properties like stretch, venting and tailoring. Their fabrics don’t bag or shrink and are machine washable. The Kit and Ace mottos is "AIMED TO EASE" and the premise is simple – lighter, looser fits in wash-and-go fabrics. They say they "design for undercover athletes who love to move and sweat throughout their week but want to leave their gym clothes at the gym. People who are spoiled by the comfort and movement of their technical clothing and want those same functional and technical principles in clothing for every part of their lives. They want clothing that transitions seamlessly through their most demanding days." They company lives, designs, fits and tests in Vancouver, Canada. Their first retail location and ecommerce platform launched in July 2014. Just a year and a half later, they have expanded to more than 50 locations in Canada, the US, UK, Australia and Japan.
