Well known for his contributions to the reign of BSB Records, arguably the hottest indie label in not only NYC but nationally. I recently caught up with one of the contributors to the success, King Sevin as we kicked it about his recent release of Pay Me featuring labelmate Troy Ave, his contributions to BSB Records Vol 1-5, other accomplishments which has cemented his place on the list of rising stars in the Hip Hop industry, as well as his goes going forward. Check it out

BSB Records has been one of the hottest labels to hit the NYC scene in a while, with a buzz that can only be compared to the likes of DipSet and G Unit to name a few; tell us a little bit about the dynamic of your company and the artists involved

That’s an honor. It is crazy when you think about it; to even be mentioned amongst those guys is an accomplishment in itself; especially this early in the game. BSB Records consist of Troy Ave, King Sevin, Young Lito, Avon Blocksdale and our Manager Hovain. We pull no punches when we saying we are the number one Independent label out right now. We all are solo artists and we just been coming together to make dope shit collectively; you are going to start to see a lot more of our solo work very soon. BSB VOLUME 6. “The lito Tape” will start things off.

To date as a collective you guys have released a series of mixtapes, of which you are on Vol 5, as well as multiple projects from Troy Ave which all members have been featured on; how did you know that it was time for you to drop a solo project ?

I’m on all 5 BSB Mixtapes. We dropped all of them in like 13 months, which is shit crazy. I’m also on AVE last 3 tapes too. The thing I think people forget is that we are all solo artist like I said earlier. The BSB projects are to get our feet wet and create the buzz. Once Volume 6 The Lito Tape drops then Volume Sevin is ME ! Next is Avon BlocksDale solo “Block tape” and Look out for White Christmas 3 and Troy Ave next project “Major Without a Deal.” We never get comfortable, we still working together and fuckin shit up at the same time. It’s fun working with your brothers, and coming up together –it’s a dope ass experience. But I’m looking forward also to building on my own as well

The first single Fuck You Pay Me is blasting off online; what made you go with this record as the lead?

Shit just be happening to be honest. I had the record for a few months and when we got back from tour I just felt like I needed to drop some new music. Went to the studio one night, and that’s the one I picked. It ended up building a krazy buzz like I thought it would. The plan I’m running with is to keep dropping more heat til Volume Sevin: Late Nights Early Mornings drop !

Can we look for the same formula of NYC inspired content on your project ?

Hell yea that’s all I know ! I’m from NYC, Brooklyn to be exact. I sound like what I’m around, what I grew up around. I just touch on topics I see or speak about day to day. Of coruse, I add a little story-telling cause that’s Hip Hop and some sarcasm; that’s KING SEVIN

Will all members be featured ?

FACTO!!! And a couple other guests as well, but we aint letting the cat out the bag yet.

Who are some of the producers you have worked with on this project ?

It’s not complete as of yet but so far I’ve worked with John Schino, Illa Tracks, Sound Smith Beats, Sunny Dukes, Yankee, and One Got Beats. I got a couple more records to do so we will see

Release date?

Don’t have one yet sometime around january probably, to start the year off right.

Will we be getting any visuals in the near Future ?
Yea I’m shooting 3 videos this month Fuck You Pay Me , She Ready AND a suprise joint. I’ma drop them all leading up to the BSB VOLUME SEVIN: Late Nights Early Mornings. Honestly I want to shoot a video for every song I make… We’re going to see how that works out

Who is King Sevin, personally, and musically ?

I’m a layed back dude, but very aggressive and assertive when I need to be. For the most part I am all about chilling, and getting this music out, kicking it with my people. I feel like everybody can get that vibe from my delivery and the music I drop.

Anything you wanna leave with the people, shoutouts ? announcements ?

Yea shouts to all the DJs and the blogs that be showing us mad love.. Shouts to all the supporters it’s all appreciated 100 percent. Shouts to my BSB Brothers Troy Ave and Hovain for the opportunity and Lito And Blocksdale. If it ain’t BSB Then it ain’t for me
