Kimpton Palomar Los Angeles: A Pet Friendly Hotel Review

By Kenin Bassart @Constantramble

We recently had the opportunity to stay at and review Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar while in Los Angeles. This was our second stay with Kimpton, and I must admit they managed to provide an even better experience than our first stay in Washington, DC. It’s not easy to find a pet friendly hotel that can also provide a luxury stay for humans, but Kimpton manages to pull it off nicely while making your fur-babies feel like they’re the guests of honor! Kimpton makes the choice easy when looking for a pet friendly hotel in Los Angeles.

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by our first surprise as our bags were unloaded and the car was valeted. Outside the front of the property was a bone shaped sign with all of these different names on it. Upon further review we saw the names of our two pooches written on the sign and realized they were being welcomed to the hotel! I wish we got that kind of service

:-)

Welcome Punkin and Zoe!

Under the sign there were water bowls to make sure our pups weren’t thirsty while they waited for us humans to hurry up and get inside the lobby. Why the rush? There was a whole staff inside the hotel just waiting to give them all pats and treats of course! We found the lobby of the hotel to be warm and inviting but also modern and well styled. Kimpton features a wine hour every evening from 5-6 PM and the lobby is a great place to hang out. They also throw in the occasional specialty drink along with the wine. The day we arrived it was a bit chilly out so they had some warm, spiced hot toddies! They hit the spot! Your doggies are also allowed to come down and socialize during the wine hour so they don’t feel left out.

The lobby was tres chic!

When we made it to our room we were pleasantly surprised with our accommodations. We were in a king suite on the top floor and found it extremely comfortable. The room was well appointed, the bed was cozy (I must admit that I have slept in better hotel beds, but this was slightly better than average) and the view was stunning. On top of that, we were welcomed with some chocolate covered strawberries and bubbly on the house! A nice touch considering we arrived on Valentine’s Day. Our favorite feature of all though was the two person spa tub! It’s a great way to relax after hours on the road.

Isn’t our room grand?

Since it was Valentines Day, Lauren and I decided to check out the lobby restaurant Blvd 16. At first we though the name was a touch odd, but later found out it was actually quite clever. The hotel is located on Wilshire Blvd, which happens to be 16 miles long. The restaurant is not very large and I found it a bit over crowded for an intimate dinner. However the service was solid and the food was top notch. We enjoyed salt and pepper calamari, duck, and a creme brulee for dinner. Paired with a bottle of wine, it made for a romantic evening.
