Plot
Volume 1: Chapter 1
Nobara Mochizuki is a typical and timid bookworm who is waiting to experience her first love. Since she is the class representative, her teacher has assigned her to take supplementary lessons for a late student. Initially, she was skeptical about it. She agreed to do it on her teacher’s behalf because she has always been a good girl, and listened to everyone. When she went to do her task, she was shocked to see the alleged bad boy of the school, Setohara Kun. He is the most popular guy at the school. Everyone talks behind him. After seeing him, she had a crush on him instantly and wanted to get close to him.
When Setohara saw him, he was surprised to see a student taking his lessons. Mochizuki explained that their teacher was busy. So, she was made in charge. Being the naive person she is, she simply believed her teacher’s word. Setohara made her realize that their teacher wrongfully forced his task upon her. He made fun of her saying she would be tricked into buying a vase. Mochizuki found him rude and terrible.
On Day 2 of lessons, Setohara didn’t show up, leaving Mochizuki to wait for an hour. When she was heading back, a stranger was teasing her and she was trying her best to get rid of her. Suddenly Setohara arrived and rescued her. Then he started giving her practical life lessons. She was wondering if maybe he was not as terrible as people said.
The next day, her teacher interrogated her telling her that she shouldn’t hang out with Setohara. For the first time, coming out of her cacoon, she stood up for herself and spoke against injustice. Setohara stood beside her. Mochizuki was feeling lucky and wanted to get closer to him.
Volume 1: Chapter 2
Mochizuki wanted to hand over a few notes as Setohara was absent. She kept it in his locker. They both had another weird interaction. After Mochizuki returned home, her father asked her to make a delivery on his behalf. When she went, she saw that Setohara worked there. Silly conversation sparked between them when Mochizuki said that she would tell the owner why Setohara was late as he was saving her.
The shop owner started talking to Mochizuki and asked for the personal details of Sethora. When the owner went to take a call, Setohara served Mochizuki juice. He pranked her saying that it was alcohol. Out of the blue, she said she wanted them to become close.
Volume 1: Chapter 3
She started panicking. Later on, he said that she shouldn’t trust people easily and it was juice. He also added that she’s too naive and the world is cruel. After talking for a bit, Setohara told her to go home like a good girl and asked her why she put notes in his locker. He said he would use those notes after a goofy chit-chat. Setohara promised her a reward in exchange for notes and ordered her to rush home as soon as possible.
Mochizuki felt they grew closer. When she turned her back, she saw that Setohara was still standing there and waved to her. Her heart was beating fast and she ran.
The next day, she was craving the juice Setohara gave her yesterday. She was looking for it and someone suddenly held her eyes with her hands. When she turned around, the guy asked her if she wanted to become friends.
Volume 1: Chapter 4
He said he knew her from Setohara. He called him “Gou’’. According to that guy, Setohara told him that Mochizuki is easy to fool around and he would use her. She protested instantly saying Setohara would never do that.
The guy started being clingy with her and said he liked her. Suddenly Setohara came and pushed him. He said he was his cousin, Shizuka. They fought for a while; he said he was not going on the field trip. Shizuka came there to inform Mochizuki about it. He tried to persuade him a lot but it didn’t work. Three of them went back and Shizuka apologized for involving her in it. When Mochizuki confronted Setohara, he said his presence didn’t matter. She said it would be fun and his presence meant something to her. Setohara still wasn’t convinced. Afterward, Mochizuki said he was to go on the field trip as a reward for giving him notes.
She included him in her group. Everyone was still talking about it. Finally, the time for the field trip came.
Volume 1: Chapter 5
Mochizuki was super excited about the field trip. However, Setohara was hating it. He was not talking to anyone. She asked him if he was okay. They had their usual bizarre conversation. In the group work, the stove duty was given to Setohara and Mochizuki. They started working. She was trying to make him feel that he could have fun there. Mochizuki started feeling guilty because Setohara looked pale and uninterested.
When he was working, he was sweaty. Seeing that, Mochizuki was adamant that she wouldn’t let him do the work. Everyone was wondering why Mochizuki took him in their group in spite of being the class representative. While she was working, her classmate gave him a bottle of water which was from Setohara. She was thinking why he cared for her and where he went.
She rushed to Setohara and found him on a bench. She figured out that he was sick because he was with his employer till dawn. Mochizuki apologized instantly as he came just because of her despite being sick. As he was sleeping, she offered him her shoulder.
Suddenly, Sethora told her to not move. There was soot on her face and he wiped it off. After that, he fell asleep on her shoulder. Butterflies were fluttering in her tummy and she was all blushing. In deep sleep, Setohara said, she smelt like roses. It was a dreamy situation for her.
Volume 2: Chapter 6
Here comes the most exciting part of Kimi To Barairo No Hibi. They both fell asleep beside each other! To both of them, it felt nice to rest their heads on each other’s shoulders. Setohara woke her up and started teasing her in a goofy and fun way. She became mad at him. As Mochizuki left her phone in her bag, everyone was searching for her and became worried. They kept asking what she and Setohara were doing.
They went to have lunch. She was awed as she saw him eating. There was rice on Setohara’s face and Mochizuki wiped it off. When they were sightseeing, Mochizuki wanted to take a picture with him. She was reluctant to ask. Fighting her fear, when she asked, Setohara took a picture. Her face turned red. She felt they became closer than before.
