DPRK state media reported April 8 (Saturday) that Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) visited the recently-constructed Pyongyang Mushroom Farm. Also in attendance were State Affairs Commission Vice Chairman and Cabinet Premier Pak Pong Ju (Pak Pong-chu), Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Organization Guidance Department Deputy Director Jo Yong Won [Cho Yo’ng-wo’n] and State Affairs Commission Design Department Director Ma Won Chun.

DPKR state media depicted the mushroom farm as a pet project of the Suryo’ng’s saying that he “personally initiated the building of the farm, chose its site and dispatched competent designing and construction forces” and took “benevolent measures for solving all problems arising in its construction.” Kim Jong Un took a “bird’s eye view” of the mushroom farm and said “the production buildings and annexes built in the vast area look peculiar, neat and tidy.” He was pleased “with the environment of the farm where formative art was applied at a high level” and he noted “with pleasure that the farm has radically changed he appearance of the area.” Jong Un was briefed about the farm’s layout and operations and went on to tour various sections of the mushroom farm.

Kim Jong Un noted that the “farm established well the management information, production control and automatic control systems on the basis of real-time check of useful information to organize production and management. An integrated production system ranging from raw material feeding to forwarding was perfectly set up to put the production processes on a highly automated and streamlined basis.” After learning about the farm equipment, Jong Un said “the longer he watched they looked nice” and was “pleased that the Party’s policy of carrying out modernization in reliance on Chuch’e-oriented forces and technology was thoroughly implemented in the construction of the farm.”

Jong Un praised the Pyongyang Mushroom Farm “as an icon and standard of the nation’s mushroom farms” and “highly appreciate the feats the designing and construction units have performed by successfully completing it as a proud structure in the era of the Workers’ Party and another precious treasure greatly conducive to the improvement of the people’s diet.” Prior to attending a commemorative photo session with the farms managers and employees, Jong Un expressed his “belief that” they “would discharge their duty.”
