Kim Jong Un’s last observed appearance was his visit to the Pyongyang Children’s Foodstuff Factory

DPRK state media reported on November 18 (Wednesday) that Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) visited a fishery on the Taedong River.  Also in attendance were O Su Yong (Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Secretary of Light Industry) and Jo Yong Won (deputy director of the WPK finance and Accounting Department).

According to KCNA, Kim Jong Un said that the “movable net ring were set up in such a way as to safely move to other waters in rainy season and place it at the river bed in winter season so that it may not be affected by change of seasons” and “gave high appreciation for distributing silver carps, Ryongjong fish, carps and shellfish in different layers of the same pond, taking into consideration the characteristic features of fishes whose condition varies according to depth of water, and establishing a feeding system capable of preventing water contamination while cutting down fodder as much as possible, adding that this made it possible to ensure profitability and raise effectiveness in fish breeding.”  He also said that “in order to successfully breed fishes in net ring it is necessary to establish fish-breeding methods and standard suited to the features of relevant waters, make efforts to satisfactorily solve the issues of fries of good species and fodder and, at the same time, take measures for massively producing net rings.”

Before posing for a commemorative photo he  “expressed expectation and conviction that its employees would massively breed fishes to enable people to greatly benefit from the fish breeding, noting that the newly built fish-breeding net ring is an important means for making the people’s life happy and bountiful.”
