Kim Jong Un Attends Commemorative Photo Session with Overseas Korean Delegations and War Veterans

Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) attended two commemorative photo-ops near the renovated Victorious Fatherland Liberation War (Korean War) Museum in Pyongyang on 30 July (Tuesday).

At a photo-op with delegations of overseas Koreans he was accompanied by Pak Pong Ju (DPRK Premier), VMar Choe Ryong Hae (Director of the Korean People’s Army [KPA] General Political Department), Jang Song Taek (Vice Chairman of the DPRK National Defense Commission) Col. Gen. Jang Jong Nam (Minister of the People’s Armed Forces), Yang Hyong Sop (Vice President of the Supreme People’s Assembly [SPA] Presidium, Vice Chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea and Presidium Member of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland Central Committee) and Kim Yang Gon (KWP Secretary and Director of the United Front Department).  According to KCNA also in attendance was “ the delegation of overseas Korean war veterans headed by Kim Kang Hui, congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan headed by Hong In Hum, chairman of the Central Audit Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, delegation of the General Association of Koreans in China headed by Chairperson Choe Un Bok, delegation of the Central Association of Korean Nationals in Russia headed by Chairperson Jang Sun Jong, delegation of the International United Confederation of Koreans headed by First Chairman Kim Chil Song, delegation of the Federation of Koreans in the U.S. headed by Chairman Yun Kil Sang, Jong Il Sim, widow of DPRK Hero An Tong Su, Pak Sang Gwon, secretary general of the World Peace Federation, and other overseas Koreans.”

Upon arrival, “all the participants broke into stormy “hurrah!” enthusiastically welcoming Kim Jong Un, who is making all his devotion and efforts for the prosperity of the country and its national reunification as well as the strengthening of the Juche-based movement of overseas Koreans.”  Kim Jong Un waved and smiled at the photo-op participants and, according to KCNA, “warmly congratulated the participants on playing a big role in defending the undying feats the great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il performed by strengthening the overseas Koreans movement and in firmly defending and strengthening the organizations of compatriots and Koreans’ community under difficult circumstances in alien lands.”  During the photo session Kim Jong Un expressed “expectation and conviction that they would make tangible contributions to bringing earlier the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and the building of a thriving nation, keeping pace with the people in the homeland dynamically advancing to the final victory.”

Kim Jong Un also attended a commemorative photo session with DPRK veterans of the Fatherland Liberation War (Korean War) who participated “in the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.”  Attending the photo-op with Kim Jong Un were Pak Pong Ju (DPRK Premier), VMar Choe Ryong Hae (Director of the KPA General Political Department) Jang Song Taek (Vice Chairman of the NDC), Col. Gen. Jang Jong Nam (Minister of the People’s Armed Forces), Choe Tae Bok (KWP Secretary and Chairman of the SPA), Yang Hyong Sop (Vice President of the SPA Presidium), VMar Ri Yong Mu (Vice Chairman of the NDC and a member of the extended Kim Family), Gen. O Kuk Ryol (Vice Chairman of the NDC), Gen. Kim Won Hong (Minister of State Security), Gen. Choe Pu Il (Minister of People’s Security), Col. Gen. Ri Pyong Sam (Director of the Korean People’s Internal Security Force Political Bureau) and Ju Kyu Chang (Director of the KWP Machine-Building [munitions] Industry Department).  Also in attendance were KWP Central Committee members  MAR Ri Ul Sol (former chief of the Guard Command, among other positions), Hwang Sun Hui (honorary curator of the Museum of the Korean Revolution, widow of DPRK hero Ryu Kyong Su) and MAR Kim Chol Man (former Chairman of the Second Economy Commission [Second Economic Committee], among other positions), all three of whom served with Kim Il Sung in the 88th Special Sniper Brigade and surrogate parents to Kim Jong Il and Kim Kyong Hui after the death of their mother Kim Jong Suk (Kim Cho’ng-suk).

After Kim Jong Un arrived “participants shouted ‘hurrah!’ enthusiastically welcoming him. They paid greatest glory and gratitude to Kim Jong Un, who is glorifying generation after generation the immortal exploits the great Generalissimo Kim Il Sung performed by winning the victory in the war and the feats the great Generalissimo Kim Jong Il performed by leading the Military-First (So’ngun) revolution to victory,” according to KCNA.  Kim Jong Un “warmly congratulated the war veteran delegates upon their great contributions to winning the brilliant victory in the Fatherland Liberation War and had a photo session with them” and “expressed expectation and conviction that the war veterans would be in good health and hand the spirit displayed in the 1950s over to the rising generation as a legacy and thus encourage them to giving a steady continuity to the revolutionary cause of Chuch’e and Songun.”
