Kilse & Ceemac
Designer Alice Kuaban seems something of a diametrical person, considering that in addition to being a designer, she’s also a scientist delving deep to find a cure for HIV/AIDS. Her collection is much the same: full of surprises and contrasts.
An empire waist, sunny yellow dress with a swinging hemline and what appears to be a v-neck would have been pretty enough on its on but the back view of this sunny stunner gave way to a open back most unexpected but welcomed. A romper (shorts-length jumpsuit) in Kilse’s collection was another chic piece you thought you had figured out until you saw the back, and then you wanted to purchase it sooner than summer.
Kilse Fashion’s fashion show was the first for the meticulous designer. Her attention to detail, texture, and form in now way speak to a novice. Her jackets had sexy asymmetric designed fronts and pleated collars with open necklines defied gravity.
The collection included blouses in summer colors like turquoise and yellow with dolman sleeves and a mid-waist snake print jacket that would work well in any woman’s wardrobe. I cannot emphasize enough Kilse’s attention to detail. The dress with ruffles in the front had border/edges lined with a satin material that gave the ruffles a life of their own without being a deterrent for women like me who walk this earth with a cup size beyond the average C.
Entertainment was provided by vocalist Greg Banks, a unique talent. He did two selections, “A Train” and ”SOS”, that had the audience singing the refrain; not an easy task at a fashion show.
