James Bond #n and Twilight #n both shat on this film at the box office: how is that even possible?
Starring Brad Pitt, Richard Jenkins, Ben Mendelsohn, Ray Liotta (et al) KILLING THEM SOFTLY is just about the best film this reviewer has seen in ages - it's clever, it's brutal and it has a delicious anti-Globalist message. It has attitude, it has some wonderful turnaround moments, it has balls.
Indirectly charting the fall of Bush and the rise of Obama, Killing Them Softly makes constant reference to the 'political process' and the 'deals that have to be made' to keep Prosperity on track. I mean, imagine these fucking psychopathic freaks negotiating who to kill in corporate committee meetings with the UN - oh, sorry, I almost forgot how the world works, for a minute.
A cautionary tale indeed - beware the lure of PROFIT, despot.
