Last Thursday, I attended a kick-off event for the 7th Annual Symphony of Chefs benefiting KidLinks. I have never attended this event so I was excited to learn more about it and the work that KidLinks provides. The party was held at the estate of long-time supporters, Vinette and Mike Montgomery, who welcomed over 80 guests for a night celebrating what will surely be an evening of culinary composition. Event chairs Georgia & Marc Lyons and Bonnie & Nathan Shea greeted guests as they filled the Montgomery’s backyard, which overlooks the Dallas Country Club. Good Morning Texas Co-Host Jane McGarry served as emcee introducing Marc and Bonnie who shared personal stories of why KidLinks and the annual Symphony of Chefs event was so important. They also recognized Honorary Chairs, D’Andra Simmons-Lock and Jeremy Lock along with sponsors and partners for making the evening possible.
In addition to the reveal of a new logo design for the event, a new location for the 2017 event was also announced, the Eddie Bernice Johnson Union Station at 400 S. Houston Street on Monday, February 27, 2017. Diana Crawford, newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of KidLinks spoke briefly sharing words of gratitude and stats on how music therapy and music therapy entertainment impact children from all walks of life. She went on to announce that over the past few years and due to the partnership with HugWorks and the online network of resources available, that KidLinks impact was now worldwide. Then it was on to the exciting announcements of format changes and chef announcements for the February event. Jane announced a mixology themed cocktail reception featuring rising star chefs, a four-course wine-paired table-side dinner for 10 guests followed by a decadent dessert reception paired with port & after-dinner cocktails.
A partial list of committed chefs announced included Bravo TV’s Top Chef alumni Tiffany Derry, Josh Harmon from the relocated (in Deep Ellum) KitchenLTO, Asador Restaurants’ Brad Phillips, David Fingerman of Madrina and pastry chef, Gianni Santin of HauteSweets Patisserie with more to be announced. Guests in attendance included Aimee and Adam Hall, Regina Bruce, Cynthia Smoot, Mary Amons, Jeff O’Neal, Nicole Barrett, Aneeta Goomar and Sandy Sule. With just 20 tables available, at the conclusion of the night 15 remained to be sold for what will sure be a sell-out event. Disclaimer: KidLinks is a new client of Gangway Advertising and as such, I will be working with the charity on the social media marketing and PR for the upcoming Symphony of Chefs event. I hope to see you all there!
