It’s no secret I’m a big fan of roots reggae, and Keyser Soze – a reggae sextet from Reno, NV – does modern reggae the right way: a soulful, jazzy take on the classic sound with some nice dubby and ska elements thrown in for good measure. While many modern reggae groups are contented with just being a carbon copy of the genre’s fundamental sounds, these guys are definitely interested in updating the sound while remaining rooted (pun intended) in the reggae music we all know and love.
