Keys N Krates Interview

Posted on the 07 July 2012 by The Otter Beats @theotterbeats
Keys N Krates are an awesome three piece from Toronto Ontario consisting of Adam Tune on Drums, Flo on Turntables and David Matisse on Keys. A must see live show that is indeed well worth the time and money to see. I got a chance to see and talk to them at DEMF this year. They are also set to play at Osheaga later this summer so the band has been pretty busy. “Same vibes,” says Flo, “Live electronic rap beats that will hopefully make you dance in your pants.” I have no doubt in my mind to those attending it will be a huge dance party (DEMF pictures). They recently got to play at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre with Diplo. “It was pretty amazing. Definitely a memorable show for the books. It was a wall of 10, 000 kids going crazy in front of us. Couldn't really beat that.” Says Tune. “Was also great meeting Diplo because we definitely admire him as lot as a producer and a forward thinking dude.” Wonderfully put as it is always a surreal moment when your dreams start unravelling and become a reality.
Keys N Krates Interview “Myself (Flo) and Matisse had an idea to do some nutty live show that would be live remixing with DJ and live elements. Matisse got Tune involved and the whole thing just sort of unfolded and evolved into what we have today.” A natural progression and evolution of their live sets has put them into such high class of remixers. We definitely expect some fantastic things from Keys N Krates. They also plan to release a 3 song EP for the Fall so stay tuned for that. Being based in such a lively city like Toronto definitely has its perks. The urban underground is full of nooks and crannies that will definitely inspire some music. Matisse describes it as “Making us want to incorporate reggae samples into our stuff. Also makes us eat a lot of rotis which maybe makes us play slower.”
If you come to one of our shows, Matisse will go out on a date with you (Man or Woman)... Well not really, but please come to our show :) - Flo
Enjoy this trap and as always happy listening.
