The performance featured Alicia Keys addressing the audience from the stage, exclaiming, “Are we in New York City tonight? Are we at the Tony Awards tonight?” She expressed her hometown pride, stating, “Had to do something crazy. It’s my hometown—Brooklyn. New York City in the Tonys tonight.”
Jay-Z closed the performance with a rap that captured the attention of stars like Nicole Scherzinger and Brooke Shields, who were in attendance. Following their performance, Alicia Keys interacted with the audience, while Jay-Z appeared in the video presentation.

The event also saw accolades for the musical “Hell’s Kitchen,” with Maleah Joi Moon winning the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and Kecia Lewis receiving the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. The jukebox musical, featuring music and lyrics by Alicia Keys, is loosely inspired by her upbringing in 1990s Manhattan. Originally premiered at The Public Theater in October 2023, it made its Broadway debut at the Shubert Theatre on April 20, 2024.
