Kermode on Film

By Pamelascott

Mark Kermode - the UK's pre-eminent film critic and cultural observer - delivers opinion, analysis and his trademark rants on all things cinematic. Presented with intelligence, humour and unrivalled depths of knowledge, Mark delivers a series of high profile interviews, compelling lists and must listen to reviews from the movieverse.

The Kermode on Film cinema presents a rich and varied bill of cinematic entertainment:

  • Live In 3D at the BFI - classic recordings of Mark's monthly celebration of cinema at the British Film Institute, featuring guests, insights and features, captured exclusively for your listening pleasure.
  • 2001 Films You Must See Before You Die - a celebration of the world's greatest movies, from Hollywood blockbusters to the lost classics of independent cinema.
  • Hell's Video Store - riotous rants against the bargain bucket films and over rated movies that should be avoided at all costs.
  • Listomania - imaginative, insightful and witty lists of movie magic (or movie tragic).
  • One On Ones - Mark talks shop with the hottest directors, producers and actors of the day.
  • Strange Relations - a stripped down version of Kevin Bacon's Six Degrees. More like Kermode's Two Degrees.

Settle down with your popcorn... and welcome to Kermode On Film.

I'm a movie buff so I really enjoyed listening to these podcasts. I liked the fact each podcast offers different content rather than listening to the same style over and over. I enjoyed the Hell's Video Store podcasts the most, where Kermode discusses what he considers some of the worst movies ever made. Though I completely disagree with his comments about Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist which I happen to really like. The best podcasts were the Live in 3D at the BFI for their mix of guests and content. I expect more episodes will be released as we only got to listen to a couple of the 2001 Films You Must See before You Die.
