Recently, Tata Motors delivered 65 units of Tata Nexon EV to the Department of Motor Vehicles (MVD) of the Government of Kerala. The step was taken within the framework of the program "Safe Kerala".
Incorporation of electric vehicles will reduce emissions as well as fuel costs spent on conventional ICE cars. One of the officials said that a fleet of 65 electric cars would strengthen the "Safe Kerala" program and also regulate traffic pollution in the state.
According to a source, Kerala MVD leased Nexon EVs for an eight-year period from Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) through the New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology Agency (ANERT).
Shailesh Chandra, President of the Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, said: " We are indeed proud that the Nexon EV is their preferred choice for the special "Safe Kerala" road safety project. "
He also said that the Tata Nexon EV has become one of the best-selling electric cars in the country. We hope that the electric SUV will continue to dominate the segment in the future as well.
