Keira was excited when daddy told her they were going to one of Ontario's largest nature and wildlife preserve Algonquin Provincial Park Achray...

He told her they were going to the Barron Canyon Trail that would give us a view of the Barron River from high above...
At first glance Keira thought it doesn't look like a cliff...
But all signs pointed to cliff. So she knew that she had to stay on the leash with daddy the whole time which was okay because she was a little scared...
They hiked uphill until finally Keira had her first glimpse of the canyon...
It was breathtaking! The long stretch of the Barron River nestled safely in the canyon glistened in the sun and the rain had stopped just in time...
Keira couldn't believe how high up she was! She's a mountain dog and her daddy takes her to run in the mountains all the time but this was the highest Keira had ever been in her life!
Then the looked down...and that was scary.
It was the first time daddy had ever taken her to water she couldn't swim in...
The river was pretty but it was long and so far down...
It looked like it would swallow Keria whole...
 But daddy made her feel safe and Keira was able to enjoy the view of Barron Canyon. She thought that it was just incredible... |
To get to live in such an amazing part of the world- so close to all these Provincial Parks...
Full of nature, wildlife and mysterious things Keira had never smelled before...
She had never felt so small in the world. The sky was once again threatening rain...
And the walk along the river was winding down...
The hike out of the trail was down hill and they were sure to keep their footing...
They found a wonderful Visitor's Register Book filled with the names of all the other people and dogs who had hiked the trail before them. People came from all over the world just to see Barron Canyon. Keira and daddy were sure to leave their mark and if you go there today you can see they were their October 5, 2014.
The hike was over and Keira was tired. Time to go home and relax after an amazing day. She and daddy made plans to return to Algonquin Park soon...
And they were sure to stop by the gift shop to pick up a souvenir for mommy! See you soon Algonquin Park Achray!
