Her sophomore release is scheduled to drop sometime this year.

It’s been two years since Ke$ha fans, dubbed “animals,” have heard any new material. Fortunately, that’s about to change.

Now that she has a headlining tour and a few number one singles under her feet, Ke$ha is saying goodbye to her signature electro-pop style in favor of something new. Drawing influence from 70’s rock artists, Ke$ha’s second album possesses a “cock rock” sound.  Looking to chronicle her adventures on the road, she has no shortage of material to write about.

“I just want to capture some of the true essence of what rock and roll is,” said the musician. “And that’s just irreverence and sexiness and fun and not giving a fuck.”

Ke$ha has spent the last few months working with producer Dr. Luke, as well as several musical collaborators. Ranging from a duet with Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips (“You Control My Heart”) to backing vocals from her mother (“Dirty Love”), this album is bound to have some variety. As she crosses over into the house and dance-pop genre, the artist has stated that she feels some fans will be “shocked” by the new sound.

With several songs currently being mixed, the still-untitled album is slowly coming together. A 40-second clip of new track “Supernatural” was leaked in June of this year, providing an all too brief glimpse into the upcoming release. Bass, synth, and electronic beats come together as Ke$ha sings about a transcendent romance: “When you take my body to the stars/ I believe it/ Boy, this love is supernatural/ Can you feel it?”

Anticipation is at an all-time high for both fans and entertainment media alike. Rolling Stone magazine even included the album in their fall music preview, “The 24 Albums You Need To Hear.”
