With the very cold weather swarming the world, planning a camping trip when the weather finally gets warmer is almost inevitable. Camping with the whole family should be fun! And when we say the whole family, we mean even the dogs are going! For first timers, don’t worry, with minimal prep, you can keep your dogs safe and comfortable while introducing them to nature.

The first thing you need to do is look for a campsite that allows pets. Some sites have rules that mandate dogs to be on the leash all the time. Nowadays, there are a lot of pet-friendly sites you researching online is a good way to go.

Once you’ve chosen the right campsite for you and your entire family, it’s important that you start packing enough supplies for everyone. When people camp, the three things they essentially need are: food, water, and shelter. This is no different for dogs. Bring extra food for dogs, more than you think your dogs need. Also make sure to check if the site has access to clean water, if not, bring more than enough for the family. As for shelter, bringing along your dogs’ bed/s and putting them inside the tent is also a great idea to help the pooches feel comfortable with their new surroundings.

Keeping your dog comfortable in all temperatures will make the experience more enjoyable for them. If the weather is still chilly, make sure that they also have vests and sweaters to keep them warm. If the weather is hot, keep them cool by spritzing them with water or giving them a bath if there’s a nearby water source.

Lastly, for extra protection, make sure your dogs are on their leash all the time.
