Later, she secured a summer 2018 and summer 2019 fellowship at NASA JPL. She completed suborbital citizen scientist-astronaut training with Project PoSSUM after receiving her degree from UCLA.

She changed careers and now works as a full-time engineer for the Europa Clipper Ground Support Equipment team at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Echazarreta made her television debut as "Electric Kat" in a scene from Miranda Cosgrove's Mission Unstoppable. She will remain a part of the program through its fourth season. She presently serves as a co-host of the Netflix IRL YouTube series.

Out of more than 7,000 candidates, Echazarreta was chosen by the Space For Humanity project to fly into space on the Blue Origin NS-21 as a Space for Humanity Ambassador.

In space for the first time, she was launched on June 4, 2022. Evan Dick, Hamish Harding, Victor Correa Hespanha, Jaison Robinson, and Victor Vescovo were the other five crew members.

This was Blue Origin's fifth crewed flight, making a total of 21 space flights for the company. About ten minutes of the trip were spent ascending to a height of 107 kilometers.

She gave a discussion at Vogue Mexico's Forces of Fashion where she talked about her experiences with fashion being marginalized in STEM and how she is battling these prejudices. Additionally, she was recognized as one of Glamour Mexico's 2022 Women of the Year.
