Katy Perry Isn’t Performing At The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Because She’s Reportedly Been Banned From China

102.7 KIIS FM's 2017 Wango Tango - Show

The upcoming Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was supposed to be a taste of the Far East that most of us figured would turn into a wildly offensive display of cultural appropriation with the likes of the Hadid sisters strutting down the catwalk in nighties made of fortune cookies or whatever the VS designers could come up with to remind us they’re filming from China. Alas, at the rate they’re going, the only person China will allow in to strut and perform is Taylor Swift (“Mission accomplished!” –Taylor Swift).

We already knew Kendall Jenner had bigger fish pricier panties to sell and that other models were out because of visa issues,  but now we’re hearing of more people who have been banned from entering the country. China is one tough bouncer, and it won’t let in anyone who has offended them.

Gigi Hadid was told to sashay away from this year’s show after getting her work visa yanked, and many think it’s because she posted a video earlier this year of her mocking Asian eyes on a cookie. Page Six is now saying that Katy Perry is out. I figured it was just because Xi Jinping just didn’t care for Witness, but it’s apparently because China’s the crazy ex who stalks their old piece on Instagram (aka my favorite hobby) and didn’t like what they’ve been finding.

Katy was supposed to perform, but that’s not happening anymore since her visa application was denied. Sources say the government didn’t like how Katy wore a dress with sunflowers on it while performing at a 2015 concert in Taiwan and also waived around a Taiwanese flag. That’s a no-no since China doesn’t think Taiwan should be an independent country and wants it back. Anti-China protesters use the sunflower as their symbol, so a source says China flip-flopped on letting Katy werk the stage:

“She was initially granted a visa to perform at the VS show in Shanghai, then Chinese officials changed their minds and yanked her visa.”

Katy was replaced by Harry Styles.

In addition to Gigi and several models from Russia, Adriana Lima’s visa is reportedly being held up because of a “diplomatic problem.” They better solve that problem fast because a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show sans Adriana would be like a hotel cocktail bar without call girls.
