As premiered over on GoldFlakePaint last week, Katy Kirby has shared a new rendition of the beautiful ‘Tap Twice’.

A song ‘about the formation of unspoken agreements in a new relationship, the process of silently negotiating with someone what you might mean to each other, and what happens when negotiation turns into an arm wrestling match over how much you’re willing to reveal’, it finds the Nashville-based/Texas-born singer-songwriter considering her past actions : ‘I just wanted to protect you’.

Combining the subtle, folk-tinged stylings of Haley Heynderickx with the more intense nature of Big Thief, the song finds Katy revealing how much the subject – and this awkward tussle of love at the beginning of something – affected her in a powerful and emotive way.
