Katy J Pearson follows up the success of lockdown anthem ‘Take Back the Radio’ with the Jamie Thaves-directed video for ‘Something Real’. The new single comes ahead of the release of debut album ‘Return’ via Heavenly Records on 13 November.
Katy opens the song by reminiscing on a past relationship – ‘Thought of you the other day, makes my head hurt, makes me sick. Wish I hadn’t fell so deep, got me talking in my sleep’ – before deciding to move on with the repeated declaration of ‘I’m waiting for something real’. She lays these feelings bare over a sound that combines a love of classic and contemporary sadpop songwriting.
