Katsu Shokudo Ramen Restaurant

After my first visit at a ramen place along Congressional Avenue, I've been on the lookout for a different one. I think it's pretty obvious why I moved on without a second glance. Anyway, I am fully aware that there are several Japanese restaurants that offer a great bowl of ramen. But those restaurants can be quite expensive. And if you're craving for ramen at night, going to the mall isn't always the best idea.

Good thing there's a new shop along Visayas Avenue. Katsu Shokudo is a small katsu and ramen shop. They opened their doors on April 2018 but it was only in September when the news reached us. A friend and a few other people recommended this place when we were looking for a place to dine one night.

Our first visit was on a Friday night. Since the place was packed, we just ordered a ramen for take-out. After we tasted Katsu Shokudo's Shoyu ramen, we know right then and there that we found our go-to place for good value ramen.

Besides Shoyu Ramen, we were also able to try Katsu Shokudo's Tantanmen (spicy) Ramen as well as their regular Gyoza and Takoyaki. They're really good especially the Takoyaki!

If you're looking for a food that will warm and delight your belly especially now that the Christmas breeze is coming in, visit Katsu Shokudo. Their menu isn't intimidating at all! They offer three different ramen flavours: Tonkotsu Chashu, Shoyu and Tantanmen (spicy).

Tonkotsu Chashu ramen has a thick, creamy and nearly white soup with pork belly (chashu). The Shoyu ramen, on the other hand, has a clear broth and is commonly based on a vegetable or chicken stock with the addition of Japanese-style soy sauce (shoyu). And lastly, Tantanmen is the adaptation of a Sichuan Chinese Dan Dan noodle which is typically spicy AND packed with flavor. I'm 100% sure you will find one that suits your taste buds.

Happy eating!
