Katie Price’s Mucky Mansion’s scandals, from rats to burglaries

The Mucky Mansion has played a huge role in Katie Price's life and the property has made headlines over the years for burglaries and a rat invasion.

Price recently declared bankruptcy again and now there are rumors that she might leave the place she has called home for a decade. Bankruptcy is a legal process in which an individual or company is unable to repay its debts. The former glamor model was declared bankrupt for the first time in 2019.

Price has lived at the property in Horsham, West Sussex since she bought the house for £1.3 million in 2014. Cabinet Minister Francis Maude MP was the previous owner of the property. Since 2014, the mother of five has lived there with her children Harvey, Junior, Princess, Jett and Bunny.

The Mucky Mansion gained a reputation for being "dirty" after it became neglected and fell into disrepair. It even had a problem with rats and was previously targeted by vandals. But it was given new life when Price transformed her home for the reality show Katie Price's Mucky Mansion.

Is Katie Price Selling the Mucky Mansion?

It appears Price has had a change of heart since last year, when she claimed she had no plans to leave her home, the Mucky Mansion. She said no one could take it away from her, even with her mounting debts. She told The Guardian: "People write about me as if I don't have a pot to piss in. My £2.5 million house is protected. It's mine - no one can ever take it away."

Rumors swirled this week that Price is considering packing up and leaving the Mucky Mansion for good after living there with her family for a decade. It is believed Price could be eyeing a move to West Yorkshire.

A source told The Sun: "Katie is fed up with the Mucky Mansion and sees no future there now. She wants to move into her dream house and she thinks this could be it. How it would work given her financial problems is a mystery. But she has it in her head that this is happening."

Yahoo News has reached out to Katie Price's rep for further comment.

The story continues

The TV star's romance with Married At First Sight star JJ Slater has been heating up in recent weeks and it is reported that the couple have set their sights on moving in together, amid rumors they are moving into the Mucky Mansion leaves forever.

Price, who has been engaged eight times, even hinted on social media that she could walk down the aisle again. She shared a photo of a neon sign that read: Will you marry me? She confirmed that she had started a new relationship in February and things have been a whirlwind ever since. They have already had a romantic ski holiday and enjoyed date nights in London.

In March, the famous couple opened up about the public's reaction to their relationship. "They're actually doing well," Price told Goss.ie. JJ agreed that it was "better than he expected." Cheeky Price did add, "Mind you, everyone said he looked like my cousin today."

Shyly, the pair revealed that they met before the speculation had even started. Price said, "Put it this way, not only is it quick, we got to know each other behind the cameras before anyone speculates anything."

Price has been married three times; she was previously married to Peter Andre, Alex Reid and Kieran Hayler. Although she has only walked down the aisle three times, she has been engaged eight times. She was previously engaged to Warren Furman, Scott Sullivan, Leandro Penna, Kris Boyson and Carl Woods.

The Mucky Mansion Scandals

The Mucky Mansion has captured headlines for years, from rat attacks to fires and burglaries.

In Katie Price's reality series about her Mucky Mansion, builder Steve discovered a dead rodent near an air vent after her house was infested by the creatures. During the show he told Price: "This hole is where they go in. Basically they can grab onto the wall, go up the brickwork and go straight in."

The Mucky Mansion caught fire twice, but there was no serious damage. In 2020, Price's then representative told The Sun Online: "I can confirm there was a fire on the property but there was no serious damage to the building.

"Eyewitnesses reported to emergency services that the house was on fire, but fortunately it was safely brought under control before serious damage was caused to the building." It was first reported that there was a fire at the Mucky Mansion in 2018 when the bedroom of Price's son Jett caught fire.

Last year, Price called the police after a man on TikTok sensationally claimed he was planning to break into her home. The Mucky Mansion was burglarized twice in 2020. One of the burglaries was particularly devastating for the star, who discovered that the taps had been left open and her home was flooded.

Following the tragedy, the 19-bedroom house was the focus of reality series Katie Price's Mucky Mansion. Fans were needed behind the scenes of Price's renovations to the property to clean up the "dirty" reputation of rats in junk.

Price explained why she took on the big task of giving the Mucky Mansion a makeover. She said: "My house has been called the Mucky Mansion in the past, but it's not anymore. I'm making it a home."

She further explained: "I get my hands dirty and do a lot of the work myself and, with the help of my wonderful family and some brilliant friends, I leave the past behind and rebuild. My house is a bit like my life, it's being put back together, like I'm being put back together."

After transforming the place for the Channel 4 show, the Mucky Mansion became her "happy home". She said at the time: "I did everything I could, and so did my family. But this just shows that you can change things, and I'm really proud of what I've achieved."

"This is my country and my house, now the house is coming back together, just as I am coming back together," she added. "In the past this place was called the Mucky Mansion, but that's not the case anymore, it's my happy home now."
