JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva demanded the Government to immediately release the Convener of the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) and the four activists who were arrested last Thursday (18) at a peaceful protest.
Silva made this observation at a press brief held at the JVP head office yesterday (19) evening.
He pointed out that the Government instead of solving the problems in the country, is hunting down protestors. He noted that the Government is using indirect methods to hunt down the protestors who were a part of the ‘Aragalaya’.
Silva criticized the Government for deploying large Police units to curtail a peaceful protest organised by the IUSF.
Silva demanded the Government to put a stop to repressing people.
He also pointed out that the Government is also putting pressure on the media and journalists for reporting protests.
