"This is for Trayvon," is heard as a group of black youths beat on a Hispanic man in one state. In another, a police involved shooting sparks another protests where Trayvon Martin chants are heard.
Both instances are unrelated to the protests going on around the country, some peaceful and some, as reported earlier, have turned violent and led to arrests, but all of them give insight to how tensions are mounting across the country in the name of Trayvon Martin, despite his own family pleading for calm and peace, after a jury found George Zimerman not guilty of second degree murder in the shooting death of Martin on Saturday night.
The first incident is described by a witness in Baltimore, Christina Dudley on a Facebook community page, claiming she saw a group of black youths, including several black males and two black females, chasing a Hispanic man down the street.
According to Dudley, "One of the boys had a handgun out and it was pointed at the back of him."
They were just yelling and calling him names as they ran after him, but once they were hitting him and after that they started yelling, “This is for Trayvon, [expletive],” Dudley recalled, saying she heard the chant multiple times. (Source)
The police are investigating the witness account.
The second incident happened in Arkansas, after a police involved shooting of an armed suspect. False reports and rumors spread quickly that the man shot was teenage black youth (who was later identified as Deon Williams, 26) and immediately crowds started gathering, reportedly yelling phrases such as "Trayvon Martin," and "He was running away."
The longer the nationwide protests continue, the more these types of situations will occur, so it is completely irresponsible and deliberately divisive, for black leaders such as Jesse Jackson to say on one hand, be peaceful, yet actively encourage the protests to continue. Or Al Sharpton planning even more protests with his "Justice for Trayvon National Day of Action."
