Just Another Serving Horror Story

By Blairbarnes

As we all know, sometimes ordinary, nice people, turn into the spawn
of Satan when they have to wait a long time for their food, or their
food isn’t to their liking. Sometimes, however, customers are just
plain crazy and choose to let this craziness loose on you. One day, it
was near the end of my shift and my section was full. Now, I work in a
restaurant that caters to families and senior citizens, and serving
seniors can be a mixed blessing. I headed over to a table of said
seniors, took their order (without a hitch, or so I thought) and
returned right away with their starters. As I placed the soup in front
of the lady she said with exasperation “you know, normally, I am a
very joyous person…” I wondered what could possibly follow this
up. I also had the sneaking suspicion that she as not as joyous as she
was leading me to believe. She continued on to say that, despite her
normally happy state, she became very angry when someone talked to her
with a voice like mine. I was livid. I had been nothing but pleasant
to them. I told her that I couldn’t help my voice and left to take
another order. As I was walking away she shouted after me that I could
and should do something about changing my voice. Needless to say, the
service they got after that was less than stellar. The piece de
resistance of this crazy lady though, was when she, at the end of the
night, thanked me profusely for the wonderful service.
