Oscar Meyer Wienermobile Debuted
-- It was Oscar Mayer's nephew Karl G. Mayer who came up with the idea of getting inside the giant wiener and driving it around. Thirteen feet long and $5,000 of faux-beef, it quickly found its way onto America's streets and into Americans' hearts. Drivers of Wienermobiles, known as hotdoggers, hand out toy whistles shaped as mini replicas of the Wienermobile, affectionately called Wienerwhistles. Source
Read: Dog Days: A Year in the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, by Dave Ihlenfeld

Rife with breakdowns, meaty puns, the burdens of instant celebrity and more Wiener Whistles than anyone could ever hope for, this book explores a year in the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile.
