Verdict: Interesting Thriller
Story: The Forgotten starts as we meet Telly Paretta (Moore) who is seeing her therapist Dr Jack Munce (Sinise) as he is still guiding her through the loss of her child Sam. With her relationship with her husband Jim (Edwards) strained because of the death we see how Telly has been having memory lapses. She knows another man Ash Correll (West) who has also lost a child but deals with his loss in drink.
One morning while going to do her daily routine to grieve she finds all evidence of her son gone and gets informed that her son never existed and was still born. Telly must spend each moment convincing people her son was real in a world where no one believes her but the truth is even more shocking.
The Forgotten is a thriller that keeps us wondering just what will happen in the end for both our leading characters Telly and Ash, because the film does ask the simple question ‘what would you do if everyone told you your children never existed?’ just this element of the film is fantastic but finding out the answers is very generic going in the direction that is slightly too far out of this world. The settings are all used well even if again slightly generic for this style of film.
The acting is all average to what you would expect from this film with big names give good accounts for themselves without ever reaching their award calibre levels. This film does keep us guessing throughout even if the final act is slight too much.
Overall: Good thriller that does ask the question every parent would dread.
