The big story: The judge dismisses Apple's copyright claims against CorelliumLast year, Apple filed a lawsuit against Corellium, a company that allows security researchers to create virtualized iOS devices in the browser to discover potential security holes.
Apple alleged that Corellium's product infringes both its copyright and, by bypassing built-in authentication and security controls, violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Today, Judge Rodney Smith rejected Apple's copyright claims and wrote that " Corellium has faced the burden of establishing fair use ".
Smith hasn't ruled on Apple's DMCA claims, so this legal battle isn't over.
