The Jonathan Scales Fourchestra is back after their 2013 self-titled debut with a brand new album, Mixtape Symphony, that is due out on Ropeadope May 13th. The album is an homage to the jazz percussionist Roy “Futureman” Wooten, which makes perfect sense since the JSF is a jazz group with a leader who plays the Steel Pan Drums. If you think the trio sounds like a far out piano jazz outfit, then you would be right, but these guys are no gimmick – their virtuosity shines through on every adventerous note they play. Hopefully these guys will get the attention they deserve, you can do your part right now by checking out the video of the guys playing the first single from the album, “Mississippi,” below.
