JOLLY UNIVERSITY encourages students to Learn, Share, and Create
Jolly University, now on its second year, is a learning program by JOLLY, one of the leading brands in canned foods and vegetables. Culinary students who wants to make it big in the competitive world of the food and beverage industry can benefit well from the program. In Jolly University, students are encouraged to LEARN essential industry skills, CREATE career milestones, and SHARE inspiring values with others. Throughout the program, get to harness their skills trough cooking competitions and learn valuable tips and trick of the trade in the areas of Culinary, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Digital Marketing, and Personality Development.
The program kicked off last January, as Jolly University School Tours visited 12 universities in the metro. During the tour, an Intra-School Cooking Competition was held to determine who will represent their school to the Jolly University's culminating activity.
Each team is required to submit a food bazaar dish recipe, using the various JOLLY Food Line products. This enhances the student’s knowledge of the various JOLLY products and its usages. The activity aims to develop their creativity in coming up with innovative recipes that are perfect for a start-up business.
Last Friday, February 27, three talented culinary students from National University was chosen to be the representative to the Jolly University Grand Culinary Challenge. I was lucky enough to attend this last leg of the tour. As the students prepare their specialties, we sat down with the students to listen to talks about the Importance of Social Media, Knowing Your Wine, and an Inspirational Talk from Nina Daza-Puyat.
Out of the three groups that competed in NU, 3 young ladies impressed the judges with their Vegetable Samosas and Lychee Panna Cotta. The other dishes look equally good too. It just goes to prove that Jolly provides convenient ingredients for us to create great dishes.

Winners from each of the twelve schools got to attend the Jolly University Boot Camp the next day. Over the weekend, these Jolly University Elites went through intensive training and seminar from industry leaders including Fly Ace Corporation President Jun Cochanco, Allegro Beverage Corporation President Leo de Leon, renowned chef Sau del Rosario, multi-awarded Digital Stategist Sheena Ramos, and Etiquette de Manille President Pauli Antoine. Led by the Jolly University Head Master Chef Mitchie Sison, the Jolly University Elites will be equipped with Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Culinary, Digital Marketing, and Personality Development skills – each a required skillset to be cutting edge. After the Boot Camp, each team must present a comprehensive Business Plan, the beginning of every business endeavor. The best part was that each student had a one-on-one mentorship from industry leaders. There are a lot of other cooking competitions but nothing is like this. Winning can give students something to add to their CV, but the experience and the learning from Jolly University is priceless. It's something they can definitely use to make a name for themselves. To showcase the skills they have learned, students are expected to come up with a new Jolly dish that can be an actual food business start-up. They will have to cook in front of a big crowd on March 7, during the Jolly University Grand Culinary Challenge. This will be held at Midtown Atrium, Robinson's Place Manila, starting at 1:00PM.
Winners will receive cash prize. Students and participating schools will also get special prizes from other brand partners. Best of all, the Grand Prize winner will also participate in several projects with the JOLLY brand including recipe development among others. Another priceless gift from Jolly!
