Story: Johnny Mnemonic starts in the near future where the world is connected by the internet. Specialist couriers are used to transport secret data, using their Mnemonic memories that can store data. Johnny (Reeves) wants out of this world and agrees to one last job with the largest data size he has ever transported.

When Johnny picks up the data from Beijing, he finds the group ambushed and killed. Johnny must race to Newark to get the data removed. However, he doesn’t know who to trust in a world where he thought he knew who he could trust.

Verdict on Johnny Mnemonic

Johnny Mnemonic is a sci-fi action movie following a data courier that finds himself drawn into a difficult case. The data is too much for his mind, however, he becomes one of the most wanted men in the world.

This is a movie that feels like it was before its time. It brings together an interesting story and view of the future, (even if we have now passed it in real life). This brings the package delivery action thriller in a different direction. Usually, we see someone needing to be helped through the action, but this time the action hero needs to protect himself. The ideas are great and how everything unfolds shows us how money always wants to run the world.

Final ThoughtsJohnny Mnemonic is an ambitious sci-fi movie but filled with glorious over-the-top action.
