Jesus Christ Superstar Live was a ratings hit on Sunday night, beating ABC’s “American Idol” and other recent network musicals.
The Easter night musical which starred John Legend as Jesus Christ, Brandon Vicor Dixon as Judas, and Sara Bareilles as Mary Magdalene, posted a 6.0 overnight rating/10 share in the 56 metered-markets monitored by Nielsen, according to early reports.
With those numbers, Jesus Christ Superstar Live beat out, A Christmas Story Live, Hairspray Live, and Fox’s The Passion which aired in 2016.
Legend as Jesus, and Dixon as Judas was a good match for the live show.
There was no better way to spend Easter Sunday than the morning at church, watching the kids easter egg hunt, dinner, and capping off the Holy Holiday watching the Andrew Lloyd Weber musical on NBC.
