True Blood’s Joe Manganiello told New York Daily News that Chris Rock gave him sound career and marital advice when the two were starring in “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.”
“Chris was the one who talked me into doing ‘Magic Mike,’” Manganiello revealed at the Duracell “Rely on Copper to Go for the Gold” Olympics program at Stage 37 on Wednesday. The actor plays a male stripper in the Steven Soderbergh-directed film, but initially was unsure about taking the part, telling Rock: “I think guys are gonna hate me if I do it.”
“Chris said, ‘Motherf—er, they’re gonna hate you anyway. You might as well work with Steven Soderbergh,’ ” Manganiello recalled, adding that the funnyman also told him: “Before you get married, get the Porsche or the Porsche equivalent.” According to Manganiello, Rock’s reasoning was that he should “set the standard” before getting hitched.
