Joe Manganiello is all over the place at the moment promoting his documentary film La Bare and talking about True Blood, we collected a few tidbits where he talks about our favorite show for you.
After seeing the screening of the first episode of the new season, Manganiello talks about Alcide’s love for Sookie.
“He’s [Alcide] in love with that girl and he has been for a long time. [He's] the guy who never intentionally hurt her, didn’t have a duplicitous nature–he’s a real man, so I was happy to see that happen, especially after the coitus interruptus of the barfing-on-the-shoes incident…The town is under attack, everyone has kind of retreated into Bon Temps and is hunkered down trying to defend themselves against these rabid, Hep-V vampires, so [Alcide] is now a part of the town. There will be some sexiness going on at Gran’s house, and lots of blood and death and craziness –nobody stays happy for too long in Bon Temps.” source

What will you miss the most about the character of Alcide? Did you get to do everything with him that you would’ve liked?
JM: It was the perfect character for me in many ways. He’s this savage monster at times but has this huge heart and capacity for undying love. There was a lot left on the table, however, and I’d love to be able to return to him or some other similar character at some point.
You’ll be saying goodbye to this family of True Blood soon. Is it really goodbye or will you be in touch with everyone frequently?
JM: I’ll make sure to see and continue to support my castmates that I grew close with over the past five years. We’re not kids anymore and all of us have big full lives with lots of moving parts. But Hollywood is a small place and we’ll run into each other.
