As we saw in the season premiere of True Blood on HBO this past Sunday Joe Manganiello’s character Alcide is now the pack master since killing the old pack master Marcus Bozeman (Daniel Buran). Joe was able to talk to Mary Margaret from Parade Magazine and tell her what could be going on this season between Alcide and Sookie and how his character isn’t really that comfortable taking over the pack.
So since killing the old pack master is Alcide badder this season?
“He’s still that good-hearted, dependable guy with great character but he was pushed to his limits last season. You’re going to see a more active, stronger version of Alcide. There is some dissension in the pack: there is a group that immediately worships him as thew new pack master since he murdered the former one and there is another group that doesn’t think it was right or done in the ritualistic fashion.”
Of course after killing the old pack master Alcide is now the new pack master. Here is what Joe said about his character becoming a leader.
“Alcide doesn’t like werewolves and has never been happy with who he is or being associated with that group. As the season goes on, you’ll get to see some scenes from his past that are going to help you understand why he is the way he is. You’ll get a glimpse into where it all goes wrong…There is a ritual that has to be performed with the body of a pack master so it’s important for them to find the body. It’s a really, really shocking ritual.”
Now the thing we really want to know. What is going to be happening between Sookie and Alcide this season on True Blood?
“They’ve had bad timing. Either she had somebody or he did. They’re just waiting for the right moment and it hasn’t been the right moment. Alcide definitely feels love for Sookie. Absolutely. There have definitely been some things that have been done to damage that love but I think it’s still there and he still wants to protect her, to take care of her. And there is also a part of him that wishes he could leave it alone. Obviously, with what happened last season, he doesn’t know that Debbie’s dead and he doesn’t know that Sookie did it. So that creates a very, very complex web that has resulted in some really great writing and great scenes and resolutions. My favorite plot line of this year had to be that. There is some really great stuff coming your way as far as that goes. That is a big obstacle.”
