Police are conducting investigations into a robbery which is said to have taken place near the bank complex in the Kadawatha Town on Thursday.
The wife of an owner of a garment factory has lodged a complaint in this regard stating that the robbers had robbed gold jewelry worth Rs.4.4. million from her while it was being brought to deposit in a safe deposit locker of a private bank in Kadawatha. The 49-year-old victim is a resident of Kandaliyaddapaluwa area.
The husband and wife had decided to keep this jewelry in a bank safe due to the increasing number of thefts and the burglaries in the area.
She has informed the police that her husband dropped her off at a bus halt near their residence and later she came to Kadawatha town by bus. She was robbed while she was walking to the bank from the bus halt.
However, the police conducting investigations into the incident had not found any CCTV evidence on this robbery so far. Kadawatha Police are investigating
