Jennifer Garner Is In “Mama-Bear Mode” Over Ben Affleck’s New Relationship
It was only a matter of time before we found out how Jennifer Garner felt about Ben Affleck’s post-divorce relationship with SNL producer Lindsay Shookus. Maybe someday we’ll get to the point where every move Ben makes won’t be later accompanied by: “And now, for Jen’s thoughts on the situation.” But for now, we’re dealing with Jen on Ben and Snookums.
On Friday, Michael brought us the very juicy follow-up to the Ben’s New Lady news that Ben and Lindsay were rumored to have hooked up while both of them were still married. You can put that right up there in the number-one spot of things that would prevent a former wife from rooting for your new relationship. Sources tell People that it’s “not an easy situation” for Jen. Although Jen – master of the art of the subtle burn – isn’t exactly surprised that Desperate Ben hitched his wagon so quickly.
Says the source: “She knew it would happen soon. Ben just can’t be alone.”
One source claims it would have been easier on Jen if Ben rebounded with someone she wasn’t familiar with. However, another source claims Jen isn’t wallowing in homewrecked sadness, because she’s got three kids to take care of.
“Of course there are issues given it was a major affair, but Jen is her own woman and is completely fine. Nothing is new for her here. She’s in mama-bear mode…putting the kids’ happiness first. [Jen] isn’t thinking about dating – she just wants to protect and spend time with the kids.”
Lindsay has her own daughter, but don’t expect the paps to catch any Shookus-Affleck blended-family playdates any time soon. The source goes on to say that Ben and Jen have talked about not introducing their three kids to anyone they date until it’s “serious.”
For now, Ben’s photo ops are still starring Jen and his kids. UsWeekly says they were all seen at their home away from home, the Brentwood Country Mart, the day before the news of his new girlfriend went public, and they apparently looked “tense.”

A source claims Jen didn’t hug him when she arrived, and that Ben “seemed super distracted.” Do they give our free samples at the Brentwood Country Mart? That could be why he seemed distracted. Knowing they’re about to unplug the toaster ovens and put away the tiny paper cups will take 98% of your mental focus.
