JEE NEET Exams 2020: Big news for students seeking admission in engineering and medical colleges. The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) will announce new dates for JEE and NEET examinations on 5 May. These examinations were postponed due to nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 epidemic.
A senior official of the ministry said - The new dates will be announced on May 5 by Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal. This will eliminate the uncertainty of the candidates. On the same day, the minister will communicate with the students online.
It is noteworthy that Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-Mains) is held for admission in engineering colleges across the country. Students take admission in medical colleges across the country through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
Over 15 lakh students across the country have registered for NEET this year, which is the gateway for medical colleges in India. Over 9 lakh students have registered for JEE Mains. JEE Mains is considered to be the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) of the Ministry of Human Resource Development also gave students an option to change their chosen centers for the two tests, as students have moved to different locations since the lockdown.
Universities and schools across the country have been closed since March 16, when the Center announced the closure of classrooms to prevent the spread of corona across the country. A nationwide lockdown was later announced from 25 March, which was extended to 17 May.
However, it is not yet clear when the pending board exams for classes 10 and 12 will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The board had announced that it would conduct pending examinations in 29 subjects important for advancement and admission to higher education institutions.
