Time passed far too quickly and it was time to leave Nikko and journey to Kisarazu.
As with everything in Japan, the station is spotless. Beautiful flowers adorn the ticket barriers (which work take note Scotrail!)
We couldn’t leave without a memento.
Nikko is part of an area famous for strawberries. High five one today!
Welcomed to Kisarazu by this cute little cuddly fellow. He gave us a once over sniff check then welcomed us in.
Dinner was being prepared by the whole family – octopus balls (Takoyaki) made using a proper Takoyaki maker and “Japanese pizza” (Okonomiyaki) which is actually more like an omelet.
We’ll post up the recipes for these soon.
We passed on some Irn Bru and Wee Fudge Company fudge to our host – funnily enough opened and devoured quite quickly!
After a relaxing sleep we headed out for some sightseeing. Under the 10km Aqualine to Odawara to meet Yunomi Tea and sample various teas from across Japanese.
Then a quick visit to nearby Odawara Castle.A good drive home and a beautiful, if hazy, sunset. Mt. Fuji is actually over there somewhere!
The best part of the day was a visit to Big Boy Restaurant (an American chain which actually has more locations in Japan than the US) watching Mr Foodie try to set himself alight!
Review of Big Boy to follow!
